Aleksandra Piasecka

Aleksandra Piasecka is an architect and sculptor based in Warsaw. After studying and practising sculpture for five years, she turned to architecture.

Thanks to her first experiences in renowned firms in Paris, she designed the “Jardin des arts” residential complex in Hyères, on the Côte d’Azur. Here she created her first monumental sculpture, Ray of Light, which now permanently adorns the residence. This project played an essential role in her return to sculpture.

This ‘ray of light’ does more than simply evoke the pleasures of the Côte d’Azur sun. It also symbolises her new-found fulfilment in her work. Since then, Aleksandra Piasecka has fully committed herself as an artist, working alone in her Warsaw studio.

The experience of femininity

Aleksandra Piasecka’s work is a study on beauty in the expression of the identity of a modern woman. The starting point is a portrait or figure. The author breaks with the classic manner of portraiture by developing the solidity of the portrait into an abstract form.

Working dynamically with clay, she rejects the conventional representation of the figure in favor of spontaneous experimentation. The new forms that result make the viewer forget the stereotypical, often objectifying perception of female beauty. The artist thus focuses attention on the search for hidden meanings. They invite the viewer to discover the phenomenon of femininity.

Shaping matter

Through sculpture, she freely expresses her emotions, shaping them in bronze, marble powder, resins, or terracotta. His technical mastery allows him to play with the textures and properties of materials, creating a rendering of striking vivacity.

These sculpted faces embody both the precision of the artistic gesture and the freedom she found in her work. Some are made of bronze, where the finesse of the execution gives the material an almost wild aura, while preserving the original expression of ethereal elegance. Other works are made of marble powder, which one might think are smooth, are overflowing with life. Their gaze is calm, but their thoughts seem by turns enigmatic and tormented.
