Omolade’s work explores the relationship between surface and depth, using the texture of the paint to create effects of light and movement that bring his portraits to life. He also uses bright colors and sharp contrasts to create dramatic and arresting effects.
Without any drawing on the monochrome backdrop, from the studied superimposition of 10 layers of wire mesh, patiently cut by hand in studied locations, appear the chiaroscuro gradations that make up the images of young women’s faces or details of classical statuary.
Luz Severino works on canvas and handmade paper. Her colorful pictorial identity is very much influenced by Dominican culture and society which have become her sources of inspiration. In a neo-figurative gesture, the artist never seems to finish her work. Every corner turns into an endless web.
The work of Anton Smit evokes a complex harmony of forms and emotions ranging from melancholy to exaltation, from pain to jubilation. His faces express the universality of the human experience, holding up a mirror to individual states of mind while celebrating humanity as a whole.
The work of Patrick Rubinstein is in line with Op Art – optical art, art in movement. The artist draws his themes from the past and the present. He carves his works like a goldsmith to offer us a futuristic and avant-garde work.
Michel Bassompierre is one of the most important artists in the field of contemporary animal sculpture. His favorite subjects are bears, horses, Asian elephants and gorillas. He infused this discipline with a unique and new style, recognizable at first glance.
